The Retreat

Pinecone Landing Retreat is an entirely private, 2-bedroom, 2-bath home that sleeps six comfortably. It is fully equipped and luxuriously furnished, including original art. The large upper deck has a gas BBQ for special outdoor dinners with family and friends while enjoying expansive views of Lake Isabella, the Kern River, and the surrounding mountains. There is a secluded, covered patio with a fire table and peaceful canyon views where you hear nothing but the sounds of the rushing river below.
There is a washer and dryer with detergent for your convenience. Naturally, we have free Wi-Fi and a Smart TV, but you won’t need them because you’ll be too busy having fun!

The Area

The area’s breathtaking beauty has made it a popular destination for filming many TV shows and movies, among them North by Northwest, The X-Files, Star Treck and Bonanza, among many other. Take a tour of the local movie museum and find out about the many movie stars that have visited us over the years!

Lake Isabella

Lake Isabella is an undiscovered paradise. The lake is vast, yet nobody seems to know about it despite its proximity to Los Angeles. Unlike Big Bear or Lake Arrowhead, where you have to make reservations to get some lake time, you can enjoy virtually undisturbed solitude here. There are rarely more than a few boats or jet skis, even on holidays.
Lake Isabella offers kayaking, boating, water, and jet skiing. Rental equipment is available at French Gulch Marina. Click the photo to the right for their link.

The Kern River

The Kern River is among America’s premier fating rivers, offering everything from category five rapids for experts only to safe and fun guided family rafting trips. River kayaking, tubing, and rock climbing are also available. Place yourself in the experienced hands of the folks at Sierra South and let them guide you on which adventure is best for you and your family. Call ahead to check on water levels and to make reservations as they do sell out at times. Click on the photo for their website link.

The Sequoias

We are not in Sequoia National Park, but we are only about 45 minutes away from the famous 100 Giants, a stunning grouping of these beautiful trees. The trees are surprisingly resilient to lightning and fires, allowing many to stand for more than 2,000 years. Despite their resilience, there are fewer and fewer of these treasures. Make it a point to see them before they are all gone.
